The authenticity of a Photoshopped Photograph

To indirectly alter your experiences by confusing your memories by material alteration of your own photos. Are we guilty of creating false impressions by putting every single one of our photos through photoshop's levels and curves?
Perhaps, these altered photographs are a choice of self-desired conditioning of our own memories. It might be that it is sub-conscious desire to remember things not as they actually were, but as what we would like to have imagined the experience to have been.

I am trying bit by bit to write more and more. Hopefully I will start to make sense after a few more attempts.

it is a difficult balance between commercial and personal artwork... but many photographers has managed to pull it off ... the "zen" balance... if it exist in the first place.

beauty ??

blackproject argues beauty or the perception of it are ultimately bestow upon the "receiver". the fate of perception lies upon the person sensing such "beauty".

it is funny why we find certain "angle", certain "corner", or certain "shape" to be "sightly" pleasant. and sometimes we cannot keep our eyes away from it... why why?
there are many theory and explanation behind it, some people just don't care, can't be bothered! fair enough... but what does that mean? is there beauty in the first place? why do we some how seek for it always, why are we attracted to it?

emotive portraits: the introduction

there are many genre of portrait photography or perhaps, in other words, there are different "style" of portraiture...

there is the classic/ "traditional" portrait style where blackproject believes its mainly due to the time when cameras were invented, the camera required long exposure time and the subject often required to "hold still" up to minutes... or longer, correct if it's inaccurate. hence, boring boring boring photos?....
obviously there are many many more factors that influenced the form classic portrait photography has become and all it's sub genre/style.

but shall we not discuss it here.

this post is merely an introduction, a reinterpretation of portrait photography as a genre/style and so on. wait not even, it's just a rant!..:P
it is by no means academically accurate.

anyway, the blackproject's interest in portrait photography:
1. to be natural as possible
2. to draw real emotions from the subject 3. to capture a state of comfort
4. to be fun
5. alot of fun
6. enjoyable!
7. yay! do not be a tart!
8. natural beauty is always the best: accept who you are, as it is, and what you are.







easy said than done! sometimes personality clash with the photographer and the subject could create an unpleasant result. it is always very important for the photographer and the subject/client/ customer to get along, not mere diplomatic/ money-related/ "professionalism" manner, it will show (in the photographs) again - the blackproject only engage in "real photos"

eh, real in terms of being at a state where both parties feel a positive bonding, they get along, they feel like "friends", they don't feel intimidated, there is trust..... etc.... get the idea?

Often we cannot tell what we see is actually what we perceive. well, blackproject believes what is seen is not always what it seem. there are times where we need to be critical, and try to understand other meanings in our perception - in this case, a photograph. A particular angle, perspective can change a meaning completely & it is important to question and doubt the content.

the blackproject conceptual photography attempts to explore other means of expression by manipulating, changing and re-creating a photograph. this way, we can give new meanings, new perspectives, a different way of looking at things.... to stimulate the human imagination.

wedding photography: the introduction

It is often hard to define "marriage" in a single unify way. For the blackproject white light, there is no reason to redefine it because what matters is the person or the couple experiencing the moment where they find it unique and special- the definition means nothing to the project but the meanings for the people who have decided to seal their love in a sacred manner matters the most for blackproject photographer. it's that precious moment that the blackproject wants to capture; it is that "time" the project wants to "freeze" and reinterpret the meaning as time allow us.

the blackproject does not "specialized" in "wedding photography" for it does not believe in such "specialty" - what matters is the photographer, the subject(s) to form a bond and trust that it allows the photographer to engage in the process, where the subject feels "natural", at it's subliminally nature and well being...



the blackproject white light hopes that we could capture more than a mere surface in a wedding. the project hopes to capture what it really means for the person looking and the photographs.

setting a web is not as easy

hi all,

after hours of trying to set up a web page and slow internet connection, i have decided to register a blogspot for the moment; for general operation of the blackproject-photography

but i will still work on the web page and hopefully soon it will be good and running.

the propose of this site is simple. for one, we want people who doesn't know about the blackproject to have an idea what is it all about. two, this will host some of many talented photographers in the Malaysia region Photographs - as the sample portfolio.

the current form of the blackproject is part commercial and part "for the sake of art and photography"
